The Blue Light Symphony Orchestra is delighted to welcome you to take part in a day of fun and rewarding music making in the beautiful City of Bath. This is the first time the BLSO will host a workshop outside London and we are delighted to be hosted by King Edward's School. The BLSO welcomes everyone to it's workshops, although we give priority places to emergency services personnel, the military and NHS employees.
For a suggested donation of just £15 you will get:
- All music provided
- Tea, Coffee and snacks. (Lunch not included)
- A full day of playing, from 11am to 5pm
- Invite your friends for a run-through at 4pm
So many musicians keep coming back to our workshops because we combine a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with a passion for the music. We strive to play it as well as we possibly can. Here are a few of our Google reviews and you can check out more by searching for us on Google.
Great atmosphere, lovely talented people. Challenging music played really well, an enjoyable experience. Very well looked after with pastries, biscuits, tea & coffee and plenty of breaks.
A wonderful Sunday workshop with the BLSO, learning and playing Rachmaninov's Symphonic Dances - a new work for me, and both challenging and exhilarating as we explored it together. The BLSO is such an amazing idea - to play with fellow emergency service colleagues in an environment where our focus is entirely on music is a fabulous way to spend a Sunday!
Fabulous orchestra and members - brilliant standard of playing

What Can I Expect?
The way we work is that people apply for a place on our workshops and then we select players to take part based on the following criteria:
- Order of applications
- Emergency Services First
- Affiliates (Military, NHS, family of any of the above etc)
- Anyone else
We finalise players around 6 weeks before the workshop. Wind and brass places are more limited so tend to go early but we always have space for extra strings. The general standard of our players is grade 7+.
You can fill in an application form to take part in the workshop here.
